I am not a legislator. I am a South Carolinian and an American who believes our state can do better. I am not affiliated with any political party, political organization, or special interest group. My interest in this issue is not political—it is rooted in a belief that justice, accountability, and public safety should transcend party lines.

I believe the families of Cyrus, Harlins, and Martin deserve more than silence. They deserve a serious conversation about whether our laws adequately protect human life and whether they discourage the unnecessary escalation of conflicts that can end in tragedy.
